The Hub is designed to become one of Ukraine’s leading centres for green hydrogen production, supporting both national recovery and Europe’s long-term decarbonisation goals. Powered entirely by new renewable energy capacity and supported by advanced Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), the Hub will generate a stable and reliable electricity supply needed to produce green hydrogen at scale

Using state-of-the-art electrolysis technologies, the Hub will produce hydrogen with zero direct emissions, creating a clean feedstock for the production of green ammonia and other low-carbon industrial applications. This approach directly aligns with Ukraine’s National Hydrogen Strategy and the EU’s REPowerEU objectives, which prioritise diversified, secure, and sustainable hydrogen supply across the region

The facility’s strategic location, featuring repurposed large-scale storage tanks, deep-water port access, and multimodal transport links - enables efficient integration of green hydrogen into downstream value chains. The hydrogen produced onsite will support Ukraine’s industrial reconstruction and provide a foundation for export to European markets through ammonia pipelines, rail connections, and maritime routes

By replacing fossil-derived hydrogen in ammonia production, the Hub’s green hydrogen output will avoid up to 190 ktCOâ‚‚e per year once fully operational. This contributes directly to Ukraine’s climate commitments while strengthening its energy independence

The project will create high-quality green jobs, uphold strong health-and-safety standards, and embed gender equality, disability access, and social inclusion across its workforce and supply chain
